Milton Keynes Council will be introducing cutting edge lighting technology in the city's underpasses.The council is undertaking an energy saving conversion of all underpass lighting across the city, using the latest LED (light emitting diode) technology.The aim is to complete all of the conversions by the end of the year, installing 3,400 LED lights which will save an estimated ￡93,000 per year through energy costs.LED lighting is designed to operate for around ten years, with a minimal need for maintenance, unlike conventional fluorescent lamps that require more frequent replacement.
